Effects of Transport Corridor Advancement on Agglomeration and Industrial Relocation – Dallas Fort Worth (US) case study

Abstract Cities serve as hubs for various activities that necessitate comprehensive transportation connectivity. This study examines the decadal urban agglomeration patterns from 2001 to 2020 and critically assesses relationship between freeway developments, industrial relocation, population density in DFW (Dallas Fort Worth) metropolitan area. Landsat satellite imageries, US census, open-source GIS datasets have been utilized study. The Maximum Likelihood Classification (MLC) algorithm helped generate vector database, using which Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) variations were assessed. calculated overall accuracies of classified images 2001, 2011, 93.12%, 91.87%, respectively. Eventually, buffer generation techniques summary statistics detect potential boom hotspots. Our results indicate highway advancement project lures industries, leading migration. LULC suggest increase infrastructure resulted a surge built-up decrease open spaces District-3 DFW. From our study, we find 79.16% old industries are located near freeways, while 78.84% new freeways. Further, area road comparison clearly shows relocation was driven by advancements over time. also confirm this fostered massive influx during following decades.
